Not really, NWBio did not use any Real World Data (RWD) or Real World Evidence (RWE) in their Phase III DCVax-L clinical trial.

Instead they used an External Control Arm (ECA) comprised of pooled control group data from other contemporaneous randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Data from RCTs is neither RWD nor RWE.

RWD refers to health-related information gathered outside of the traditional, controlled clinical trial setting. It encompasses data routinely collected during the delivery of healthcare, such as from electronic health records, insurance claims, and patient-generated data from wearable devices. This data provides insights into how a treatment or product performs in real-world clinical practice, among a more diverse patient population, and in real-world settings.

RWE refers to clinical evidence about the use, benefits, and risks of medical products derived from analyzing real-world data (RWD).
