That is 9-5 Mac reporting old news from 2024 about the hinge (stainless steel and titanium alloy, rather than Kuo's leak from 2025 about the liquidmetal hinge) but including information from Kuo's new report that the hinge material "is yet to be finalized".

Here is exactly what is in Kuo's new report, which is good news about the quanity of foldables to be realeased:

From Ming 4 hours ago: Apple Foldable iPhone Updates:

Assembly supplier Foxconn is expected to officially kick off the project in late 3Q25 or early 4Q25. As of now, many component specifications (including the hinge, which has drawn considerable market attention) have yet to be finalized.

The foldable display is one of the few components with finalized specifications and serves as a good reference for estimating potential shipments. Samsung Display (SDC) plans to build annual production capacity for 7-8 million foldable panels to supply the 2026 foldable iPhone. Given that actual production in 2026 may span only a few months, panel shipments that year are likely to fall short of full capacity.

Recent market rumors suggest Apple has placed an order for 15–20 million foldable iPhones. Based on checks across multiple components, this volume likely reflects cumulative demand over the product’s 2–3 year lifecycle, rather than 2026 alone. This indicates that Apple’s foldable iPhone, expected to enter mass production in 2H26, may ship several million units annually in both 2027 and 2028, possibly due to its premium pricing.

It’s worth noting that all plans remain subject to change prior to the official project kickoff.

No not correct and yes, correct . It depends on who is doing the manufacturing. To better answer your supposition, your opinion.

Just to make it clear black and white. Let’s just say the material used to make 1 million horse shoes is anything else but Liquidmetal. If the subsidiary of LQMT gets the contract. LQMT accounts for the revenues and costs and profits if any earned. If Eontec manufacturers the part you are correct. Others might have another opinion about Eontec.

But as far as the subsidiary goes. No matter if they make and sell porcelain coffee cups. It’s all LQMT.

I thought I explained that in a reply to payme, recently.

Better to focus on LQMT them to debate the metal’s right now.

I still think if the sidelines were sure it is Liquidmetal no matter where it is to be made, and LQMT is to be paid, we would be above 0.25 cents and not below it.
