maybe answers his question as to why people are not so optimistic -- when you rely on old or false information to prop up your optimism you risk being the last to know what is really going on -- the negativity of others is seen through a distorted filter when in fact it may well be the more realistic attitude to have.
I think many here still don't know the magnitide of what may be about to hit them -- very possibly because they choose denial..not a good way to invest your hard earned money
