Om, >> All countries should be interconnected <<

Yes, makes sense, and as the world becomes totally interconnected, the hope was that the interdependence would make for a peaceful world. After all, countries won't destroy each other if they are totally dpendent upon each other for food, energy, tech, etc..

Sounds good in theory, and it actually did work for a while, but in the end humans are driven by biology to dominate. Our dominance rituals (including wars) are there to decide who is the strongest / fittest, and worthy of being reproduced. So it's a quality control mechanism designed into all living things. Unlike predators species (lions, tigers bears), humans lack the innate behavioral inhibitors against killing other humans during our dominance rituals (link below). Instead, we have to rely on external inhibitors like law and religion to keep us in line, but it isn't enough. Up until the 20th century our weapons were primitive, so there wasn't the risk of us wiping out the entire species. We had endless wars, but weren't able to wipe out everyone. That changed with the arrival of high technology - nukes and bioweapons. As the Terminator said - 'It's in your nature to destroy yourselves', and now we have the technology to do it.

Anyway, not a very cheery analysis, but with the rise of China / BRICS, the unipolar 'Pax Americana' is ending, and biology pushes us to determine which side will be dominant. Do we blow ourselves up in the process? Guess we'll find out.
