Cognate was a separate company with a separate factory. Just because people who don't understand cell manufacturing businesses and CDMO's go on and on and on, it doesn't mean they know what they are talking about in all instances.

In this instance, NWBO has a CDMO managing it's factory. And part of the deal with the local development authority for financing was that some part of the facility, a small part, be dedicated to helping develop this industry in the Cambridge area. That role goes to Advent and they have a small part of the factory for office space and can, when the factory is idle, use some of that space for these projects, to meet the requirements of the deal. Further, when NWBO is non-commercial, this innovative solution keeps the factory manufacturing ready, and also a kind of development hub or accelerator that helps local businesses that can also benefit from the connection and know how.

But there is no suggestion that this additional business takes precedence over DCVax-L manufacturing. The company's not anywhere near capacity, and yes, the rental income and inexpensive development funds are good additional subsidies that most companies would never have.

I like the twisted logic . Company pays XYZ to provide certain skills . And that XYZ charges more to the company to provide skills . By that logic CEO, CFO, CMO's should also be separate companies because they provide different skills :)
