I dislike trump so much that when he ostensibly won the election, I moved all of my index funds into treasury securities in my retirement stash, as immunization against what was almost a guaranteed economic bonfire. Won't buy back in until either it drops to dow 30000 or the bastard croaks. Both of which are not out of the realm of possibilities, but I wish much more for the latter.
I do not have a dog in the Social Security arena fight. I was among the last to retire under the old CSRS. If elon knew there was a pension system that was ALL government employees, he would probably go after it hammer and tong. The newer federal system is tiered to SS, so they would be impacted, but luckily the system group I am in includes retired congressmen, cabinet employees, etc.
It kind of pisses me off that the quarters that I DO have in SS are not enough to draw anything, I paid into it for several years and will see nothing from it. But I get several multiples of that with CSRS so I have zero reason to bitch, and don't. I don't need more money, but if I did, I would just go load up the truck with petrified wood and crystals and sell them to New Agers; whenever I open my shop (usually when my grandson is here because he likes selling stuff but only visits every few months), my clientele ranges heavy to aging hippies and nubiles that see auras and such. Since all my inventory is stuff that I find while hiking, doing the ledger is easy since I consider the gas to explore as a hobby and would do it just for the exercise anyway.
One of my kids is a wire wrapping whiz but her selling skills are weak.
