Microporous appears to be building a plant which manufactures battery separators, and not complete batteries. This might not be the battery giga-factory that Coretec is desiring to be involved in.
Microporous’ Expansion Plans
Microporous will leverage DOE support to bring two new-to-North America production facilities online:
1. 2025: Commercial launch of new ultra-thin, coated wet-process polyethylene (PE) lithium-ion battery separator capacity in Piney Flats, TN.
2. 2026: High-volume coated PE lithium-ion battery separator production in Danville, VA. Microporous plans to invest $1.35 billion in domestic separator capacity as the anchor tenant in the newly developed Southern Virginia Megasite.
