Why Pete would play there now is beyond me. Maybe he has a love of public humiliation?

One thing for sure: any Mets solution at first base that includes regularly pencilling Bret Baty's name into the line up card is a waste of the money they spent on Soto.
The fact that we are discussing internal options at this point in my opinion is not going in the win column for the gm so to speak. This was a mistake. Now the mets do have numerous internal options and if they come up with Baty again they are clueless.
It is insane if they pencil in Baty, I thought they were nuts to bring him into start the year over vientos last year. As I said Vientos was better before the seasons started and question baty swing a gazillion times that there are alot of hole. How many years in a row must we start with this madness. Although I think Vientos moves to 1b with no alonso. And the 3b battle is a battle of three Guy Brett Baty, (Why must we do this too ourselves again, this guy has move lives than cat as a prospect.).
My preference is Ronnie Maurcio but we have to see how he comes back from the injury that kept him out. But even luis Angel Acuna, who we seen towards the end. With that how can the appeal be baty I will once again call him the man from milwaukee if he goes to baty was going nuts last year when they played him for a 1/4 of the season and sent Vientos down for him which was another mistake by the gm. He's good, but it is important to note the gm does make his fair share of mistakes, which is why the mets got off to a slow start before he pivotted last year, from obvious bad players such as Zack Short, Brett Baty and Joey Wendle, while leaving guys like Iglesias and Vinetos in the minor which I said was mistake was from day 1, actually before day 1.
Hopefully this crazy call on Brett baty doesn't continue, I perfer Maurcio if I can't have Pete, but acuna too, anyone but baty. The mets have a pretty nice number of prospects, all close to ready, given that to go back to baty makes no sense there are other and in my opinion waaaaaaaaaaaaay better options. Having said that they should of signed Alonso, and If they didn't want to do that, they should of went after other options, but now that shipped has sailed. But still brett baty please, what can I say I'm not a fan of him starting. Although I see a scenario where all 3 baty, maurcio and acuna make the team to start the 2025 season in my opinion.
