I read the article, and find it to be completely without factual support. FIrst, I take anything on the subject of gun control from Time magazine with a grain of salt, because this magazine is ludicrous in thier approach to the subject of guns. They closed the door on credibility when that fellow went off on the Long Island Railroad, and Time blamed the gun, and not the shooter. As for the content of this particular article, they do the same thing that so many gun control advocates do - tie background checks to registration as if one cannot exist without the other. I have pno problem with background checks. The NRA supports background checks. But to act as if they must be tied to registration is dishonest. The article insults those who may disagree with it by insinuating that thier opposition has no common sense in saying that their position IS common sense. They substitute an insult for facts. One more time - Background checks required for the legal transfer of a firearm are all that is needed. Registration of firearms does nothing except provide a database to make confiscation easy if and when the agenda of banning them is passed. Oh yes, the article also claimed that registration forces people out of state for purchases if they want it for crime. That is an absolute lie. They stay in state, and go through the black market - which is EVERYWHERE.
