While these narratives seem solid, I'm not thrilled to see traditional religion being discredited in this way, since that reduces religion's essential role as the backing for law, ethics, morals, which are essential for civilization.
In high school I studied a lot of that material.. I wanted to be and Egyptologist. I also studied the Bible because I was on the church "quiz team" (Nazarene, fundamentalist). This is probably the reason I am Spiritual but not religious.
