I met with my Congressman last January and discussed this very issue. At the time, he said he would discuss this with ____(I cant remember the name-I need to find my notes) but he was on the Financial Services Committee. The issue I raised was investors are required to report ownership when it reaches 5% so the same requirement should be there on short positions. He agreed and said he would look into it. Perhaps, this spurred the decision. Either way, it's sbout time!
