The DLE has to be commercially proven, and IBATs MDLE is a ways ahead of their DLE, which may be good, but must be tested more, and that takes time.In the meantime, Burba and Steve Harrisons patent will be used by Terralithium to extract magnesium, nichel, cobalt, lithium, and more .OXY is involved here, and BHE is in the background here as well.Moneys will be paid for Burbas/Harrisons patent, and a new DLE plant will no doubt be built to use thatpatented process..IMO..It will be an IBAT plant..Oh yes, we have one already built to produce battery grade lithium in a few days..
Just an opinion that the early bird gets the worm..Other DLEs are coming though..

I believe those hearings were started by property owners in Arkansas, over lawsuits on royalties..

And are now debating the correct or regulate a fair royalty program.

Texas has problems too.

Copilot
what are the royalties for lithium brines in texas?

In Texas, the royalties for lithium brines can vary depending on the specific lease agreements and negotiations. Here are some examples of what has been offered:

Lithium Lease Offers: Some offers include a 2.5% royalty on lithium and a 3/16 royalty on oil, with a $100 per acre bonus.

Lease Terms: In some cases, leases for brine extraction have included a signing bonus of $70 per acre and a royalty of $40 per year, with contracts running for five years and options for renewal.

It's important to note that the ownership and rights to lithium in brines can be complex and may require legal advice to navigate. Different states have different rules on who owns the produced water from an oil and gas well, which can impact the royalties and lease terms.

Lithium is becoming a valuable resource in the energy transition, particularly for its use in battery production for renewable energy storage. However, navigating the ownership rights over lithium extraction from brine — especially in complex legal frameworks like those in Texas and Arkansas — can feel like traversing a quagmire. In this session, Oliva Gibbs co-owner Brad Gibbs will dive into the intricacies of determining who owns the lithium found in produced water and brine — particularly in regions like the Smackover Formation — and how this impacts leasing strategies
