Are you trying to use a space in your handle? Maybe they don't allow that.

I had problems signing up also. It really shouldn't be that difficult. It says that you have to be over 13 to sign up but the birthdate they give you is under 13. I ended up just giving my real birthday and then I also had the issue with "letters, numbers and hyphens ". So I closed out the window and started over. They really need to fix it.
