And yes, inflation was bad, but it happened because of COVID. And then some companies that didn't need to pile on, did pile on, using the inflation as an excuse for price gauging. And yes, I suppose it's lame to say, as Stephanie Ruhle did, "Well, but a loaf of bread costs much more in Portugal".
Inflation now seems to be under control once again, but that doesn't mean prices that began increasing four years ago in 2020 are going to come back down. Some people have or will receive pay raises, but it's tough on people with fixed incomes. However, Trump's tariff plans will NOT help. If he goes through with them, they will make things MUCH worse.
