Right, it isn't the worst thing. Pluses and minuses like most all things and there are many good people involved in religions. And those good people do much good. Just religion is one of the creations of the human mind that continues to stultify millions of human consciousnesses, is at least indirectly responsible for many suicides and unarguably unfortunately is still responsible for continuing wars and much death. And the tax breaks religion gains in many countries is a real burden.
Still, lol, it could have done you some good and obviously didn't do you any lasting harm at all. I agree totally though it definitely is not the worst thing. ;-)
At some point in my parochial HS education I left the dogma from the 'religion classes' behind and focused on the ethics, philosophy and literary influence of Judaism and Christianity on western lit & civ. Anyway I never found myself putting down a Shakespeare play to go look up the religious references; ditto for Dante and Milton.
