He is retired from Dupont but leads the American Chemical Society. He is pouring himself into the scientific side by doing so. Keeping your brain active as you get older is the best way to preserve brain cells that will lose dendrites that house information if you stop learning and analyzing. I am sure he is very sharp because of this as he is knee deep in what is going on in the chemical engineering community.
