Yes, that's known as confirmation bias, the tendency to accept as true anything that reinforces your existing beliefs, regardless of whether it's actually true or not. And conversely to reject anything that contradicts your existing belief, even if it is true.
That confirmation bias is why people get sucked into scams like VPLM and HDVY, who employ sock puppets on social media to throw out positive messages and downright lies in order to suck in the greedy but gullible. (One such late but unlamented sock puppet posted on both VPLM and HDVY MBs before his timely demise.)
But these "well-qualified authors" (how you can make that assessment when the author of this piece is not identified beats me) are dead wrong as you have to admit - no insiders are buying, they're only dumping their cheap already-in-the-money options as fast as they can.
