Yes. I thought a buy out at a price exceeding $3/share would give me a substantial IRA LTCL in those shares I sold. I started with only 1000 shares I had purchased in my IRA at a price under $1/share.
BTW, there is quite a discussion on the MRK and Biotech Value boards concerning what MRK may/should be contemplating vis a vis purchasing VKTX with its weight loss drug portfolio to offset its potential revenue loss stemming from Keytruda patent expiration in 2027-8.
I was prescribed Vascepa taken with MRK’s simvastatin(Zocor) in 2013 as a T1-diabetic, and have since lost weight from about 180 lbs to present 150 lbs, my teen age weight. I have experienced no adverse CVD events while reducing the amounts of LLY’s Humulin and Humalog I take each day by ~ 40%. IMO, MRK should be considering a buyout of Amarin, whatever it does wrt VKTX.
