Will look into it... I noticed that promotion of cystine was one of it's positive effects.
Early in the COVID "crisis" I had some serious pulmonary issues. I went to the hospital but I signed out of the hospital AMA because I thought their treatment was inappropriate. I've been taking NAC for a long time and I feel it was critical in my recovery from the first FQ poisoning
I went home and had to sleep upright in an armchair, couldn't lay down. I knew I was dying. About two hours after my regular morning dose I noticed my pulse ox readings improved. So I started googling, noted the half life stats (5.6 hours) and also researched overdose levels - I couldn't find any dangerous levels. So instead of the 600 mg 3x per day that I'd been taking for a decade or so I switched to 1200mg every 2-3 hours.
I didn't die...
I had an adequate supply because my family bought a case of it from a willing wholesaler and had it shipped in.
How many lives could have been saved with NAC?
Here's how I discovered NAC - I was reading a health food store ad somewhere around year 2000... I knew I was in trouble, so I was praying while I was reading. In the upper right hand corner of the ad "NAC" was advertised. I kept going back to it because I had no idea what it was. I did my research and started taking it at the recommended 600mg 3x per day recommended. In time I got better, back to my "normal" self and even improved lung function. . I had bad lungs to begin with because I inhaled HCL acid in H.S. chem class. Then I got Valley Fever when I was in Tucson for a trade show. I was given Cipro for a fungal infection and I got worse. I tried every asthma drug that came along, with limited success and actually reversed most of the damage with NAC until COVID came along.
As stated earlier today, I now suspect that the gadolinium administered during hospitalization caused as much or more damage than COVID.
