Geomagnetic storms lead to currents flowing in the ground. Those currents cause EM fields extending upward from the ground that cause induced currents in ALL conductive materials above ground. In a Tesla this seems to cause a voltage spike that leads to SUA. Not sure how the loss of steering is occurring but I think it's connected to Teslas emergency lane departure system active on all Teslas. Meaning it doesnt matter if FSD or Autopilot are not enabled this system is active and will forcefully take control of the Tesla from you. This could be GPS issue related where the system suddenly thinks the car is in a different location than it actually.is and autosteer tries to course correct.
