Sleven, IMO Apotex is just "piling on" with the Hikma suit. But I think their goal is to possibly make Amarin cave/settle and set up agreements with them that are favorable going forward, and avoid future litigation.
I mean, it's that, or just a cash grab. Because trying to bury Amarin seems a little foolish, since they are the only ones that would continue to release favorable data about IPE and continue to innovate around IPE (and thus grow the market/demand/awareness of IPE).
If the generics had waited longer until the market had really developed and matured, then the motive might be different.
Personally, I think the generics were foolish to go after the patents and enter the market so soon. Maybe they didn't anticipate Amarin bailing on their marketing efforts. But I also think the generics were gambling on the current popularity of Omega 3 supplementation.
