For the same reason manufacturers of major brands sell their exact same product to major outlets under private labels. It allows them to compete with discount sellers on price while maintaining margins for those who just want the best while being price insensitive. Maybe not logical on the buyers side, but that is reality.

2. If the issue is that insurers (and the industry trend in general) want generics simply because they are "generics", then why hasn't Amarin launched yet?


It is a tricky market dynamics issue. The AG will somewhat cannibalize the branded sales.
