Athlete's foot is often, or most often, a result of food intolerances, like gout and many other forms of arthritis are. Don't take my word for it, as if you ever would:

9). Tinea or Yeast (Candida) infections
"If you get fungal infections like thrush, jock itch, ring worm or athlete's foot - it is a hallmark of untreated food intolerance. When your immune system is busy fighting half-digested things it thinks are 'foreign' - your defences are down."

Poor nutrition can contribute to fungal skin infections like athlete's foot. Some say that internal issues can manifest on the skin, and that foods rich in inflammatory chemicals can exhaust and malnourish the immune system. These chemicals include:
Processed fats
Caffeine
Alcohol
High-fructose corn syrup
Sugars, including honey and artificial sweeteners
Starchy carbohydrates like potatoes

"to reduce the risk of fungal infections like athlete's foot, some recommend avoiding these foods and instead eating a diet that tames inflammation."

Getting To The Root Cause of Athlete's Foot - Rupa Health
Sep 25, 2023 — Nutritional Recommendations ... Blood sugar dysregulation can make fungal infections like tinea pedis more likely. High carbohydrate diets can dysregulate inflammation and immune system function, especially in those with certain underlying diseases or conditions such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome. To address this, a diet that avoids sugars, including honey and artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, alcohol, and starchy carbohydrates like potatoes, may help to tame inflammation and reduce the risk of fungal infections like tinea.

I've had gout for years and have done a deep dive into the food intolerances space. Of course, doctors would rather prescribe shit, it what's they do. Check it out, what do you have to lose?

never got those little blisters from the athlete's foot, but yeah it was really annoying. I wanted to chop my foot off.. LOL One time down in Florida, I was playing shuffleboard with the crew in my bare feet. Stepped out into the grass and suddenly my foot felt like it was on fire. I thought I stepped on a discarded cigarette or something but when I looked down, my foot was covered in ants.

I realized then that they were fire ants and that their name is proper. I made a bee line to the swimming pool and dove in trying to get those little suckers off of me. I did get some tiny blisters from that one but I never went out without shoes there again.

Everyone around me was confused at the time because I just took off running but they all got the hint after I showed them what happened.
