Not sure how it’ll play out, but the Swiss TFLN ecosystem may end up displacing the Chinese ecosystem as the global leader over the coming years.

What type of "ecosystem" are the Chinese working on that is currently outcompeting the Swiss TFLN ecosystem?

Then the next question is, how does Lightwave's Polymers compete and/or overlay in "any" of these ongoing ecosystems in development that are photonic based as it relates to EO systems/interfaces? Dr. Lebby has said all along, "we are additive" which to me means they enhance the performance of any of the ongoing incumbent and/or future developed EO materials in the system. At least to my ongoing understanding of their proprietary and unique organic synthetic Polymers. I still remember their Jan 3, 2022 PR announcement filing of their patent application on use of "diamondoids" (a organic derivative of petroleum distillates) as a very important addition to their Polymer matrix providing more stability and allowing lower energy use for high speed transmission (part of what I believe is giving Dr. Lebby this multiple generations; 10 year+ advantage over the nearest competition).

Chris Harder's bio from Lightwave's website board which shows how deep and experienced he has been with developing laser diodes (high power pump laser) "used ubiquitously in telecom". The Lightwave 3/19 PR on the inaugural members of its newly formed Advisory Board's first meeting with the Company’s management . https://www.lightwavelogic.com/news/new-release-21/

"Dr. Christoph Harder is currently the president and co-founder of Swissphotonics, a non-profit association that promotes the competitiveness of its Member Companies, research organisations and universities in the field of photonics in basic and applied science, technology development, manufacturing and selling of photonics components and applications. He has held a variety of staff and management positions at ETH, Caltech, IBM, Uniphase, JDS Uniphase, Nortel and Bookham. In addition he has served on the board of other companies, he was the cofounder of the IBM Zurich Laser Diode Enterprise which pioneered the 980nm high power pump laser now used ubiquitously in telecom. He is an expert in ultrahigh reliability laser diodes for telecom, industrial and consumer applications. He is an OSA Fellow with more than 100 refereed papers and 20 patents and has chaired many technical conferences. Dr. Harder received the ETH Diploma in 1979 and the Master and PhD in EE in 1980 and 1983 from Caltech, Pasadena, USA."

Seems TFLN is biggest threat, but there is a clear contrast on strengths & weaknesses that lean towards the acceptance of polymers. No risk no reward. LIghtcounting does not seem to give Polymers much cred yet.

I notice on slide 21, that even though AMF was not mentioned explicitly as a transceiver partner, they clearly show an AMF transceiver reference design on slide 21.

I do notice that on the timeline slide 26, that Transceiver Reference Designs (plural) shows as 2026, so a dose of reality there.

I do like that we have a > 70 patent count in 2021, and both 2022 & 2023 activity show as patent filings, so it is nice to know the count will soon be going up.
