I believe the question posed was asking if/when the options position qualifies for a long term gain tax rate , no ? I never focus on that and honestly don't care because of the expiration date exists I believe a options position in possession for 1 month ? if sold for a loss qualifies as a tax write off . I never hold a options position more than 6 or 7 months . Thats my strategy anyway , I just acquired a starter call options position in ACB in 45 contracts @Rimshot333-25, $160.00 investment . sell order already posted @ $ 2.00 per contract , roughly a 6600% gain if all of the planets align as needed . LoL .
