In regards to that statement it was pretty spot on the way Maher used it. After Oct 7 one of the Hamas leaders (think he was #2) in Qatar said they were never going to stop until they were gone.

I've watched him long enough to know the audience is spontaneous; after all he's called the audience out from time to time for 'oh, that you boo?' Or, 'a little slow on that one, huh?'
