There is only so much weight that an airplane can safely lift, and at least one plane accident has been attributed to the airline grossly underestimating the weight on board, causing it to stall and crash soon after takeoff.

What year was this? BTW, commercial airplanes can handle a lot of weight and having a bunch of overweight people onboard sure isn't going to prevent it from takeoff, or be a reason for it crashing.
