BTW, the FAA told airlines to increase their estimate of the weight of passengers as more people started packing more pounds.

There is only so much weight that an airplane can safely lift, and at least one plane accident has been attributed to the airline grossly underestimating the weight on board, causing it to stall and crash soon after takeoff.
