Both methods require modulation.

Temperature and component failure (the laser) is the biggest concern for CPO in general.

Most CPO work today relies on MRR's, and we all know now that EOP reduces the temperature sensitivity of MRR's.

Many people in the industry don't think MRR's will win the battle though.

But again...no matter where the industry goes, electro-optic polymers can play an integral part.
