Lots of useful stuff on Vietnamese sericulture in addition to the hybrid lines. The way they describe sterilization implies that silkworms are raised in generations, not in a situation where the facility raises silkworms continuously.

I wish we knew more about GSS. They may already be employing these sterilization techniques.

But Arachnodude might reply that Thompson reassuring investors about the quality of their 3rd party silkworm farm would reveal sensitive information to competitors, even as he believes that KBLB doesn’t have competitors.

Defending Thompson can lead to pretzel-like contortions.

RAISING NEW VH2020 SILKWORM BREEDS IS BECOMING POPULAR IN VIETNAM.



The full name of the silkworm breed is “VH2020 Dual-System Quadruplex Hybrid Silkworm.” This is a hybrid product created from parent breeds originating from South Korea and Vietnam.

VH2020 silkworm breed has been recognized as a technically advanced silkworm breeds according to Decision No. 166/QD-CN-GVN dated May 19, 2023, by the Director of Department of Livestock Production, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

VH2020 silkworm breeds has an average cocoon yield of 12.53 kg of cocoon per 6-gram silkworm egg, with a single silk thread length of 800–900 meters, over 85% cocooning rate, and cocoon consumption of less than 7 kg per kilogram of raw silk. ......

Currently, VH2020 silkworm breeding has achieved high productivity and excellent cocoon quality, and the products are guaranteed to be purchased at the best price by Nam Ban Silk silk yarn factory, bringing joy to farmers.

Since KBLB's immunity worms didn't pan out, guess Vietnam went with the South Korean technology that actually has been PROVEN to be Commercialization-Ready.

KBLB has to be aware of South Korea's presence in the locale and provinces....
