I really don't care about that either making the division better. Guys in rookie ball is my issue, and I admit the SS has potential, but what is the earliest we see this guy 2027, 2028 even if it does work. And another issue this team doesn't have much pitching in the pipeline, and they keep trading pitchers, and they keep getting SS, and they have lindor signed for 10 years. They had to move maurcio off the position. They drafted a SS this year with there 1rst pick, the best player in the robertson deal is a SS, Jett williams is A SS another one of the best prospects. Now Acuna Another SS. How many SS do you need.
To be fair though I'm luke warm on the scherzer deal because Acuna has alot of potential. I would of like pitching prospects and ideally a 2nd prospect lesser to go with the big prospect. They cut 22.5 million in payroll from scherzer next year. And I think Scherzer is gonna pitcher like a 3rd starter with a higher risk of injury (It might get worse next year too), hence to get a really good prospect, Ideally they would stop acquiring SS and get some pitchers in the pipeline. But I won't destroy Eppler on this one. It was about what I would expect given how much money they were given, I was hoping for a lower level arm with potential to go with it. But that didn't happen. Not a great trade, but to get out of the scherzer contract who I feel is losing it, he can't get his slider over without it being destroyed and his slider is one of his best pitches last start pitched well against a lousy nationals team hardly used it, don't know how effective he is gonna be if he can't rediscover his slider with a fastball that has lost a couple of MPH. Hence this trade really isn't bothering me. All is just my opinion, and I oculd always be wrong though.
