Yes - as I recall Osama Bin Laden and his world-wide Al Qaeda terror organization attacked us and many other targets around the world. Al Qaeda was harbored by the Taliban.

Thus far Osama has been allowed to remain free and the Taliban are in resurgence, while American troops are dying while trying to suppress a religious civil war in a country that had no political or military ties to either Al Qaeda or the Taliban.
