They acquired servicing rights only. Otherwise I would have bought the bank for 1.8 billion dollars for 300 billion of deposits. There would have been banks standing in line to loan you the money. WAMU wouldn’t sell for $8 dollars a share so JPM forced them into bankruptcy. Pretty illegal if you ask me.
