are you saying that because the price drops after shorting increases - that is 'evidence' that shorts are manipulating the price? If that is what you are saying -- why not just recognize an obvious alternative explanation?: Shorting goes up when people expect the price to go down - maybe the shorts have a very good reason for expecting the price to go down -- ie the company words don't match the long's expectations, and then the price goes down...pretty basic stuff. IOW what you see as manipulation I see as the ability to predict disappointment.

Why look for conspiracy theories about manipulation by 'them' to explain price action when there is no need to do so and the most reasonable explanations are obvious?
