Calling a CEO is a waste of time.
Without exception.
A CEO can't tell you anything that isn't already public information. So why bother?
Even worse, an unscrupulous CEO can tell you whatever pops into their head, because you can't prove they said it afterwards. I'm not saying Kelly is unscrupulous or would say something that's deceiving or not true, but I've had CEO's tell me lies on the phone before.
No, I learned my lesson, long ago. Never call a CEO. If they can't put it in writing in a PR or in a filing, I don't want to hear it. What I want to know -- material facts about the "Synergy Deal" -- would be insider information if she told me, and we all know she can't tell me insider information on the phone.
