Mojo, did KBLB ever report the projected output of this first ramp-up was 200 kilos? The only reference to a specific quantity I could find in the PRs was a ‘ramp-up plan’ to 200 metric tons per year by the 3rd party manufacturer. We have no idea how long this plan would have taken, but it is off the rails now.
I think KBLB mentioned metric ton quantities in Q1 2023, but it was not clear if that was per month or per quarter. Also, I believe that plan was contingent upon Prodigy having sufficient capacity to supply needed eggs, which was not indicated.
The holiday PR only said the silkworm farm produced the ‘largest single-month production batch to date.’ So what is the smallest amount that might be? Do I believe the batch could have been as small as 20 kilos? Yes. Do I believe the batch was 200 kilos? No. KBLB should have specified a quantity that large. It would represent an obvious achievement that deserved recognition.
My guess is that the batch was probably less than 50 kilos. That would engender the kind of behavior we have seen. Thompson likes to publicize good news. He also likes to shroud bad news in uncertainty. Stalling on reporting the outcome, giving a metric that has no meaningful interpretation? Strongly suggests he is hiding bad news.
