Yes, but the new laws in MAGA states are all over the place. 6 weeks in most, I think. Maybe 12 in others. B402 has decided for all women in the US, since he's ok with 12 weeks, that should be the law of the land.
These geniuses who pass these 6-12 week laws don't understand science.
First trimester screening tests. During your first trimester, your health care provider will offer a blood test and an ultrasound to measure the size of the clear space in the tissue at the back of a baby's neck (nuchal translucency). In Down syndrome and in certain other conditions, the nuchal translucency measurement is larger than usual.
Second trimester screening tests. During your second trimester, your health care provider will offer another blood test called the quad screen. This test measures levels of four substances in your blood. Results indicate your risk of carrying a baby who has certain chromosomal conditions, such as Down syndrome. The test can also help detect neural tube defects — serious abnormalities of the brain or spinal cord.
So it is not until the second trimester after 12 weeks whether parents learn if the baby will be born healthy and viable outside the womb. And then after that blood test there is further testing to be done to insure the blood test wasn't a false positive.
Having been through all of the above and in the end having a healthy baby I don't want politicians to tell my wife and I WTF we are supposed to do in the privacy of our lives and a decision that we would have to make with our doctor.
If you read the above the SCOTUS got it wrong or you can argue with the Mayo Clinic at the link above. 15 weeks is too short a time. lol. You can't even get a follow up without getting approved then scheduling an appointment.
