I don't see it...
The top of the line AMD TL-60 (2.0Ghz dual core) has about the same performance as the bottom of the line core 2 duo 5500 (1.66Ghz dual core). Do you see AMD introducing some new faster dual core notebook CPU's? Intel will do the santa rosa refresh, which I see as no big deal... and I suspect you agree. The surprising news is the new Intel dual core Pentium 2060 mystery CPU. It is in MANY new notebooks at my local computer shop, and Intel has not yet announced it, or associated specifications. It looks to be a big player in the low cost notebook market.

My feeling having both an E6600 and a 5600+ is that these two
chips are comparable. Which means that you'd need a 2.8 Ghz
Turion to match a 2.4 Ghz Core 2. AMD is shipping 2.4 but I
checked Hp and Dell recently and HP offers the 2.2 Ghz Turion X2
max. So I don't see AMD as competitive until they get Barcelona
out there. BTW, I don't think they're going to do a 2.8 Ghz
notebook chip but it would be fun to play with. Even with one core.

Could AMD pick up another 5%? I guess so. But it would be at the
low end where there is a lot of demand but I assume the margins
are nothing to shout about.

Re: Merom with 65nm and 35W TDP limit is at the max
bin point now or very very near to this. 2,33G is a very strong
comp. for AMD, but keep in mind that AMDs 65nm TDP ratings are
very good already now and they will get better. So, untill
45nm (and thats a big question now) I see nothing special
from Intel and that means that the whole coming year, Intel
will not have something "really" new.

Merom is going to be refreshed next quarter by the Santa Rosa platform, which offers increased performance (800 MT/s FSB) and a host of new features (Robson NAND disk cache, 802.11n wireless, etc). The CPU will also launch with a new speed bin at 2.4GHz, followed by an Extreme Edition part (45W??) at 2.6GHz. By the end of the year, they are expected to launch a 2.8GHz Extreme Edition part. That sounds like a lot of activity to me, even before 45nm arrives. Of course, I don't know what AMD's mobile roadmap is, but I don't expect them to beat 2.4GHz @ 35W, or 2.8GHz @ 45W any time this year.

Re: AMD will gain MINIMUM 5% Notebook
share this year (thats my own (low) guess)- be prepared.

Gaining market share is easy. All they need to do is dump 1.5M more parts in the grey market, and presto... instant market share. What will impress me is if AMD can gain 5% revenue share this year, but I haven't heard of any silver bullets that can get them here.

It's also VERY CLEAR that AMD's margins have been pulverized by Intel, be prepared for another bad year, I don't think you will like either company's financials.
