Boom! Mic drop.

My mom lives about a block from their polling place and says it's scary as hell to even walk there. (church hill). It should be easier than this my friend. And she grew up on the west side of Chicago so she knows a thing or two.

I should not have to worry about my mom going to vote and she should not have to either. She's a tough cookie but to hear her say that just makes me cringe.

You know, all these years since I was eighteen, I've taken voting in elections for granted.
It was a no brainer to vote, wasn't complicated or hard to reach one of many precincts to vote in and just show some ID to match what was on the voting rolls in that precincts.

I was aware through the years that some mistakes happen, machines break down and infinitesimally small percentage of voters were cheating. But that was both sides.

I've worked for 30 years covering elections in the city I was employed at in the tv production department. We covered all sorts of debates and elections. We shot live the nights of elections, national and local showing live results and interviewing candidates and exit polls as well.

It was exciting and exhausting. The pavilion where the counting machines were working was locked tight every minute when conducting counting. Only with top clearance could we go in and set up or bring out equipment, and even then that was incredibly rare as we were brought in a side door by law enforcement and kept over 50 yards away from the workers. And not once all those years, seeing all the locks on doors, off limit areas and sequestered election workers did the thought about fixed elections or massive cheating ever enter my mind.

2015 changed all of that. I've been shaken by the attack at our election process by the nazi republiklans who since hewhoshitsinpants started vocalizing the stealing of his election and magnified by morons in the house and senate and since 2020 every single losing election by a republiklan has been claimed to be stolen. We will be living that lie for quite a while, if these people are not brought to accountability for their lies.

I tried to be a retired person election worker for the midterms, but they stopped taking people by the time I applied. I WILL work the election in 2024.

Will I try and stop cheaters? Will I do something to keep nazi republiklans from voting. No. I will do my job as honestly and diligently as instructed, unbiased to party interest like it says on the application. The best way for the common person to support our American election process is to 1. Work the process. 2. Work with honesty and integrity.

zab, You have such an exciting day of it. Long lines and intimidating guys with guns. Shucks, it takes me half and hour all up. Walk up, vote, buy a sausage sandwich and a piece of cake, and walk home. No intimidating figures in sight. No guns. Boring. Could stretch it to 45 minutes i guess with a chat or two. To be fair you have a much larger population which makes organization tougher. To be equally fair we don't have any like your Republicans who are scared shirtless of democracy. Hmm, guess they wear shirts.
