Obviously she missed the flight. I didn't want to refer to her having Covid because of privacy issues. Since DI seems to be saying it, I can say.

If it were just a missed flight I would think the program could be rearranged to have her speak later, but it's pretty clear that it's Covid, that's what's been indicated by many, and the conference isn't long enough to wait for her to be Covid free.

I hope she is no more ill than I was when I tested positive, I never had symptoms any worse than a mild cold but tested positive for over a week. I believe that if everyone took the antibody test that shows if you ever had the disease, many people would be identified as having had it without ever knowing it. If it weren't for the tests, many people would be flying, etc. with Covid, and it's very possible that if Dr. Liau had been in New York she'd have made the presentation with Covid, not ever knowing she had it, unless a test was required within a few days of attending, then she'd have known.

Last night we had Mother's Day dinner at our club. A few days earlier they announced that a member who'd been there a few days ago was Covid positive. We know of several people who cancelled. It's a shame, but the fear of Covid is extreme even for those with all the boosters. I must certainly identify myself as an immune compromised senior, but I cannot fear living life. Omicron is known to be minor if you've been vaccinated and boosted, I just don't believe that everything must change again because of it. I know you can have it more than once, and it is deadly for a few even with full vaccinations, but so is so many things we routinely live with. You're probably more likely to be killed crossing the street than by Omicron if you've been vaccinated, boosted, and especially if you've had it before.
