I should also mention that the Christmas tree is part of the permanent well completion. It stays behind and is used to manage the well over the life of the well. The rig moves on to drill the next hole.

This type of Christmas tree is used when a pump jack is not needed due to natural high enough pressure. So, the MJ valley would have these devices in the field, not pump jacks.

I must admit that KyOil has some valid points BUT I still have questions. I suppose it will be this way until everything comes to a head.

Thank you sir,

Seems reasonable with what has been happening. It does not mean its great news but snippets of what could be.

Pressures were an issue with MJ1 so this correlates with what you are saying.

Lets hope for the best...

Good day on low volume, I assume the noise will get louder and shorty will make an appearance soon.

Correction: the tall red device was the BOP used while drilling, not the Christmas tree!

I had not seen a picture of the BOP on MJ02 before and was expecting to see them installing a device. Instead, they were removing the BOP and making way for the Christmas tree. The BOP is only used while drilling in the event the drill bit penetrates into a high pressure formation which causes a "kick event" or high pressure surge which may otherwise overcome the drill mud, creating a geyser. I was wondering why the Christmas tree had BOPs and then it dawned on me that it was not the Christmas tree but the drill BOP.

That was indeed one massive set of BOPs with the annular BOP on top where the drill pipe entered and several side RAM BOPs. The MJ01 BOP picture showed a single large annular, so I guess high pressure was expected on MJ02 or least they wanted to be prepared for it. The BOP will move with the rig to the next well.

A Christmas tree will be placed on top of the wellhead where the BOP once was and will be considerably smaller than the BOP.

Sorry for the confusion :)
