I agree we're making progress slowly. Unfortunately we've screwed up the earth so much that we need rapid change, and we're not getting it. We fail to recognize how much our oceans are rising, or how much damage is being done by the way we pollute. I'm old enough that I doubt if I'll see the really serious damage that's coming, but my kids almost certainly will.

We fight about whether pollution is accelerating climate change and ignore what's needed to deal with it. Even if it were a completely a natural phenomena, we're going to find that much of our coasts are going to be underwater, and many places we grow foods won't support it, at least not what's currently being grown there. It's as though if we ignore it, it will go away.

I do believe that personalized meds will improve healthcare, but all the improvements are meaningless if we're making the world uninhabitable for man. So many species have disappeared, perhaps we may survive, but it will be in a very different world in just a century or so if we don't act much quicker.
