Personally I wanted to get on Vascepa, I spoke with my Dr. a few times before he finally agreed to write the script, but he indicated that if he had to fight to get it, I'd be charged for the time it took. Not only did I not have to fight for it, I got the name brand, and my insurance covered it fully.
I believe that Doctors need to be better educated on the benefits, and frankly if there are generics, I believe they're not cheaper to the insurance companies. Perhaps AMRN has reduced their prices to get the lions share of the market, but if they get the word out to Drs. that they won't have to fight to get it for their patients, perhaps sales will go up dramatically.
In my case, I'm spending far less as before I was taking the less effective krill oil capsules that aren't available by prescription to my knowledge.
