I agree. The exception is at price extremes as we saw with AMRN at the top and now at this capitulation bottom. TA is good at identifying a boat overloaded to one side ready to capsize.
In addition, TA is great at providing 'smoke of a nearby fire', hinting that "something's up" before the world knows. Allows entry prior to a spike in price.
Most importantly, I believe TA allows you to align with or against a trend. It has helped me define AMRN as a trade vs hold since the FDA approval. There have been many sharp tradeable pullups to falling resistance, but you are right, news/catalysts would have helped reverse the trend. Trends can change though IMO (without news) if fear + bearish sentiment + heavy short float + pps extremes. If that were to happen to AMRN, Reddit would step up and embrace the Fallen Angel reversal - leading to restored value rather quickly.
