The main reason is communication styles can lead to terms of service (TOS) violations even between well respected posters on this board. I have had TOS violations for being off topic many times as I have rolled in my faith perspective, which is part of all that I am and believe we all are affected by, to what is going on in the struggles that NWBO has faced. I have also had terms of service violations for using agricultural humor that can be taken the wrong way if taken out of context from the intent.
Anyway, like you I would like to see the restrictions on Maverick_1 lifted as his investment experience in multiple roles on Wall Street is a valuable asset here.
By the way, I was a terrible moderator when I was one because I didn’t really stick to eliminating posts based on a strict adherence to TOS. I value freedom of speech too much and never saw anything so egregious that I felt the need to sensor. I think that had a lot to do with the other mods being “on it” so well, especially HappyLibrarian, XenaLives and sentiment_stocks. I tried and still try to read every post, not because every post is valuable but because every poster is. Best wishes.
