No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that it was in the best interest of Texan / American capital for Texas to remain a slave state. Slaves cost less than wage laborers to do the same work and bankers, slave traders, bounty hunters, textile manufacturers, and ship owners profited handsomely from ongoing slavery, too.

"Between 1774 and 1804, all of the northern states abolished slavery" - maybe that's why the EP only covered Confederate states.
