brooklyn13: You are saying Mexico had freed it slaves so they fought Texas over slavery. Well England had already free the there slaves and were getting ready to fight on the side of the south. Then Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation.
Note: The "emancipation proclamation" only freed the slaves in the states in rebellion not the states in the north!!!! That would come long after the war. But it did keep England out of the war. IMO smart move. Because England's Navy would have busted the north's block-aid of southern ports!!!! But again it didn't say a damn thing about the slaves in the north!!!!
It was nothing more than a smart poetical move on his an republicans play!!!!!!!!!!
