Intel had a photonic research group long before Lightwave existed, hell even when I worked for them. Lebby even worked for them for a time.
The foundries and vertical semi manufacturers have the capital and talent to create photonics when the time comes and the design-for-manufacture methodologies to pull it off. That time is not now.
Lightwave is a Class A farm team trying to play in the Big Leagues. And it is grossly overpriced. I would recommend you take enough off the table to play with the casino's chips. But you believe.
