Why_do_we_have_some_of_the_lowest_vaccination_rates amongst all advanced nations?

Anybody can walk into their local pharmacy and get a free vaccination within minutes.

Some people don’t want to get vaccinated because they think that having caught covid once will protect them forever, despite evidence that a vaccine will boost your immune system even more, preventing reinfection. Or, it can’t happen here. Not in my backyard.

Remember, dodging the covid bullet once or twice doesn’t mean one can avoid it forever.

Absolutely...messaging has an effect. Why would corps spend billions of $$$ in order to manipulate our behavior? Because it works. The LW media/leaders say social distance, wear a mask and get vaccinated. The RW media/leaders says don't trust the vaccine, try unproven treatments, masks are an intrusion on our freedom and don't work.

Not abusing drugs, not drinking in excess and using a condom are common sense. But people do it anyway. The difference here is you have a very vocal RW media, bloggers etc & some elected officials who are urging people to ignore the warnings, ignore the science, defy the common sense of wearing a mask or getting vaccinated. I don't recall ever hearing an elected official or media personality urging people to drink & drive or not wear a condom. But Fauci is to blame...right.

Fauci is not the problem...it's the 80M who are eligible but won't get the vaccine. Where is personal responsibility? How can the gov't be blamed when people insist on being idiots?

What is the solution jbog? What would be your plan to get more people vaccinated? What would you do differently?

Not sure what drugs, using a condom, and smoking have to do with taking a vaccine. Less educated folk are more apt to use drugs / smoke / not use condoms, etc., and it appears based on their voting habits the less educated lean red (they really liked your guy) and not surprisingly they make up the largest percentage of those who are unvaccinated.

Maybe you should stop drinking the koolaid.

You want more reasons why the US had done so poorly beside Republican politicians especially Trump downplaying the virus and taking steps to block viral mitigation. Okay. The US doesn't guarantee healthcare for all and doesn't guarantee paid sick leave. We sure as hell aren't an advanced nation on those fronts. Many people had to work even when they weren't feeling well because they could afford to miss work and couldn't afford to see a doctor. The leading edge in medicine is irrelevant is a large portion of the population can access it.
