Velasquez is nothing more than a backup SS at best. He can't hit enough it is really that simple.

The issue with bringing up young talent is the short leash they have to prove themselves. 10-15 games, and if they're not hitting .300 it's bye bye. And more importantly, bye bye to the kid's confidence.

Very different paradigm from the veteran with the bloated contract who sits in the 5-hole for 106 games before finally getting shifted to the 7 slot.
